I am doing a report on how the media is bias when giving news. The problem is I don't watch the news or read papers. I need a specific case that shows this bias, If anyone can help me that'd be great. A website that explains or contains that article would be the most helpful.

Just so you know, I avoid the news because there are only negative reports on there. Very seldomly do you read or hear about good and positive things happening in our world today because let's face it, it just doesn't sell. I refuse to bog down my life with more negitivity when I have enough problems to worry about from my own life and that of friend and family. Also, I really don't want to support an idustry that doesn't care how they portray themselves or others, as long as they sell themselves. The news isn't there it give us the news, it exists to sell itself. How can it be reliable if it's main purpose isn't even what they claim it is. This is why I don't watch the news. So don't trash me for that, help or not.

Well, I do understand the news can be depressing. The Clinton scandals first got my attention to the left wing bias of the media. It had escaped my attention that the news was being presented with a leftist slant. But it was obvious they were avoiding reporting on the scandals at all.

By listening to talk radio I'd hear about aspects of the scandals that would not be reported by the Network media until months later. It seemed as if the network media with all their resources were getting scooped by a bunch of people on shoestring budgets like Matt Drudge. The truth was they simply didn't want to report it.

Once you become aware of the bias you'll notice it on almost every broadcast. 90% of journalist vote Democratic, its a fact of life. They are predisposed to accept what they are told by their leftist brethren and reject what they are told by the conservatives.

Pay attention. How do you plan to be an informed voter if you don't watch the news or read the papers?

I'll get thumbs down for this, but I don't care. I cannot believe that you don't watch the news or read newspapers. The only person I know like that is my neighbor's dog (and even that I'm not sure about). With everything that is going on in our world today, and so many resources available to you, how can you possibly choose to be so insulated?

I could answer your question, but I'm not going to. You have to do this assignment yourself, really. Please open your mind to expanding your world by making the effort to learn about it!

Just read your additional comments. Good lord, that is the most convoluted drivel I have ever read! You COULD read the news on the Internet - how would that be "supporting" something? This is just a sorry excuse for ignorance. Sorry - I wouldn't help on this one even if there was money involved.

I'm assuming you're young. When I was younger I didn't pay much attention to news either, so I can't get high and mighty. But I can say you should do some research for your own report. Let's put it this way, in a survey of journalists themselves, 90% think their colleagues are biased, so you do the math.

If you watch the news for one week, you'll see your specific cases.

Yeah there's a bias. There's a bias against doing any real reporting. Whatch any of the major 24 hour news stations. The right half of your body will go numb after a while.

A verteran CBS journalist, Bernie Goldberg, wrote a fine book about this topic.
