I agree. I believe that animals are equal to people and they should be treated as such. I'm not a vegitarian or anything, but I still think other creatures deserve their rights. After all, humans are animals too. In fact, I don't consider the animals in my family as pets, I think of them as my brothers/sisters. It is unfair to animals and pets, but humans tend to think they're the dominant species.

The alternative would be rather bizarre. Instead of owning pets, people would have to employ them to do the job. They'd need to be paid wages and get days off and stuff. Then you'd have people complaining about discrimination 'cause dogs and cats get all the cushy jobs. Lawyer's would make a fortune suing cats for harrassing parrots in the workplace. Whenever one animal killed another we'd have to call it murder and get the police to prosecute.

I happily coexist with a feral momma Cat and her babies who live under my house and love to lounge in the driveway. They are kind enough to share my house with me....it's all good. All the animals who have been in my family have been loved cared for, given the best food and recreation and were involved in all family activities. Four legged pets belong to family just like two legged pets do. Lighten up sweetie.

Join People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants!
Stop the savage consumption of our vegatable friends by animals. All herbivores must be purged from the Earth. Only then will we achieve balance.

It's not unfair. If they were permitted to exercise autonomy, they would probably always choose to be free from human control. Then they would take over the streets and probably demand other civil rights. And as soon as they are given the right to vote, our civilization as we know it is sure to tank. We must keep them in check by exercising dominion over them.

Sorry but they are. They are completely dependent on you for there existent. And you are responsible for them and there well being. Hay sounds a lot like children until they are 18 or able to pay there own way.

Cats think it's very unfair, too. They think people's job is to serve cats.

I consider my animals family and I would be very upset if someone messed with them just like someone would if it were a part of their family. Property no but family yes.

Don't worry your little brain, pets are treated better than most kids are.And they are property for their protection. If they weren't, anybody could take one, and just do whatever evil things they wanted without any repercussions.

Are you serious? What if someones dog viciously attacked your child. Should they be held accountable or should the animal? I'm coming over to get your pet right now and you can't stop me because its not really yours. I'll take good care of it
