...or needing to weave in every color change? I'm planning on doing intarsia but I wanted to see if there's anything I should know before I start. For example, since my pattern is pretty much a blue circle in the center of black, I'll need to have 2 hanging balls of black on either side so I don't have long strings of black yarn going across the circle in the back of the work. And I also don't want to do the method that carries both yarns along - too much yarn would be wasted.

When you get ready to change colors, just be sure to twist or cross over the old color of yarn with the new color to make sure you don't end up with holes where they shouldn't be. Your balls of yarn may get tangled up a bit but there are tricks you can use to keep them from tangling. Some people use empty clean liter soda bottles, cut the bottoms off and run the yarn through the neck. I just take a few minutes as needed to untangle the mess
