depends which sensor you are speaking about. Knock, oxygen. mass air flow, they are all emissions related and run between $100- 400.

Emmissions sensors are allways located inthe engine exhaust systems. Sometimes they are located in the exhaust manifold. On most newer vehicles, emmission sensors are located both prior to the catalytic converter and after the catalytic converter.
Ease of changing. This again depends on the actual location. Usually, such a sensoe will require a special tool to remove and re-install.
As for cost, well lets put it this way, you have an expensive vehicle and parts for a Volvo do not come cheap. Costs for an emission sensor can and often do exceed the $100.00 mark per sensor. My suggestion to you, is to make absolutely certain that the problem is actually an emissions sensor before you decide to purchase any sensors. have your vehicle's computer system downloaded with respect to possible equippment failure. There is a code that will tell you in most cases what the problem is and exactly which sensor to replace.
Keep this in mind, any time you have to do work on a vehicles exhaust system, you run into bolts and nuts, etc that have been repeatedly heated and cooled, which allways makes such work difficult to perform without proper tools and you often need the use of a torch to heat parts prior to removal. You may find it cheaper to have a trained techician perform this work for you in the long run.
Best of luck on your venture.

In most cars, it's an oxygen sensor, and there are likely more than one in cars produced after 1996. You'll find them upstream and downstream of the Catylitic converter. I don't know the cost. A diagnostic computer could tell you which of these might be defective. Also, you'll need to reset the computer after installing the new sensor in most cases.

The O2 sensor is located in the exhaust system usually in or near to the manifold, a vee engine will sometimes have two.
No quessimate as to cost depends if gen Volvo or aftermarket and where you live

once you flow to purchase your factors, some places can inform you. If no longer, they're often placed interior the exhaust manifold or the exhaust pipe merely in front of the catalytic converter. It enables in case you run the engine 2 or 3 minutes to get the pipe heat to touch till now removing the sensor. It enables enhance the threads to ease the removing. stable success.
