Depends on what kind of games. If you're asking whether violent video games contribute to crime, that's a very big grey area since it can be argued both ways (one side can say it can unconditionally, the other side can say that it's the parents' responsibility to teach their children that it's not real and that it's not acceptable in reality). If you're talking about games like...poker and its affects on social interaction (remember, serious poker players will swear until they are blue that poker is a "people game" and I'm one of them), then I say it can.

Okay, I'll run with the poker thing. Being in law enforcement, I have to be able to tell lies. In poker, it's the same thing, I have to be able to tell if someone's bluffing or not. Does this answer your question? Your question's a little too broad and I'm just trying to cover as many bases as I can.

Playing games does effect psychology, video games can make you less social or more depending on if it is on line or not, and normal games are some of the best ways to connect with people. Spreading you personal experience and letting you adapt to the normal social rules.

Violent video games also effect psychology, children who play them act more aggressively after wards. (even i have) They find the game as acceptable and add the game world in to there normal schema's.
