I think Jamie Cullum is OK. He is a reasonable piano player with a good rock/swing voice, and his song selection is pretty good. His improvisation reminds me of Ramsay Lewis, but on the down side, he is certainly no Oscar Peterson. I think that Jamie himself would recognise this. If you are interested in young modern pianists, can I suggest that you look into the playing of Jason Robello. Jason works as the pianist for Sting and can be heard on the live Sting album. I think you'll be impressed.

I love Jamie Cullum and think a lot o people judge him before they have even listened to him. I am open minded and love all kinds of music and must admit I was abit sceptical when Jamie came on the scene. However i bought his first album and watched The South Bank Show featuring him to give him a chance. Not only did he teach himself piano but wrote most of his material. I saw him live 3 years ago in York and he was awesome. i understand if people dont like him as there are a lot of these young jazz musicians breaking into the mainstream. But Jamie is not only enthusiastic in his live peformances but is treing to introduce jazz to a younger audience. I thinks hes ace!
P.S Anyone who does a Jeff Buckley cover on their album is awesome

The first time I heard him was when he did everlasting love and I ♥d it!!
now got his 2 albums.. n listen to them all the time.. Fave song def...
All at sea... I can listen to that for hours!!!
think he is a LEGEND!! and got a brill voice and he is good looking :-) x

I absolutely adore the guy. I saw him on Conan one night a few years ago and fell in love with his style, his energy. Bought 'Twentysomething' on an impulse, and never regretted it. After all, someone who can cover Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Hendrix and Pharrell, all on one album..well, that's impressive.
