I've been on the pill for 4 months now, and this month I started my period 2 days before I should have. The only explantion I have for this is that earlier in the month, I was on Amoxicillin for 10 days to treat a sinus infection and that possibly could've made my birth control inactive. Is this normal?

I am sexually active, and yes I used a condom too. I always use both because I don't want any suprises.I believe my antibiotics altered the effectiveness of my pill, and I'm not too worried anymore.

It happens sometimes. It depends on what pill you are on and how it interacts with your body. When I was on orthotricyclen-lo I'd always get my period 2 days before my week off of active pills. It was annoying! Talk to your doctor. It's also possible that the antibiotics have reacted with the pill. It doesn't cause the pill to stop working but, it does decrease effectiveness and increase side effects like break through bleeding. Break through bleeding is a term used to describe bleeding while taking active pills.

If you are not taking active pills and this is your placebo week/week off, it's normal to get your period any time during this week. It could come Sunday one month and Thursday the next. That's okay!

If you are experiencing a full period, not one that is short and light, there's little need to take a pregnancy test. While some women bleed lightly during pregnancy and mistake this as a period, it is impossible to menstrate while pregnant. Menstration is the shedding of your uterine lining. You can't do this and stay pregnant! Don't worry.

I'm no doc but I'm telling you from my own experiences. You can tell her to finish the pack, what she is having is her body getting used to her taking the pill. She should see a regular period probably by her 3rd month of taking the pill. If she is still worried she can call the doctor's office and get more advice on the matter.

First of all let me ask this question. Are you sexually active? If so did you use a back up contreceptive this month? If you did not and you are sexually active there is a good possibility that you may be pregnant. and the bleeding/spotting may be called "break through bleeding".
If the above does not apply you may have a minor hormonal change and it through off you menstrual cycle. Good luch...

Yes, antibiotics can render your BC inactive:-( Make sure to take a pee-test. Some women get their periods, even when pg.

It probably made your pill inactive, causing you to ovulate. So now you're experiencing a regular period.
