What does it mean to you? Do you do something selfless? Do you have special traditions or memories?

Asides from the commercialism, the gifts or lack of them, is Christmas a joyful time or a sad time for you?

Each Christmas, we take the Girl Guides to a seniors' nursing home and go floor to floor caroling. It's a bittersweet experience. We do many things for others through the school and anywhere else we can. Mostly I just love being with family and friends and Christmas eve is by far the most holiest of nights and I love midnight mass.

milky and creek...if you were my friends you wouldn't be spending it alone...no one should be alone. It really is a bittersweet time but I think that is why it's important to think of others and do for others. Those things make you feel much, much better. But no one should be alone.

Wow...what amazing answers...thank you for sharing...I'm sorry your parents leave you alone at Christmas to go to parties...please tell them how you feel...they have their priorities a little messed up as some adults often do and don't realize until their kids point it out to them :~)

It is the day that Christ was born!! I love Chirstmas and always have!! I love sharing presents and getting them of course! But my favorite thing to do is purchase tons of turkey dinners and toys for kids and let my heart lead me to the right area! Christmas morning my husband and I ring bells and hand out food, clothes, and turkey dinners cooked and ready to eat.

If you could see the joy on these peoples' faces! Especially when you find a fiamily where there is a mom and a dad and a few kids and you know that they are doing everything they can to male it int his world. The parents can not thank us enough and we feel that we have done so much, because God has blessed us so much in that we can do this!

It;s the most wonderful time of the year!

My fondest memories as an adult is my Christmas's at my aunt and uncle's house. They lived in a mansion, and we did not. They always had this huge tree in the foyer that was every bit as tall as a 2 or 3 story house. We would eat dinner and after dinner and desert, we would open our gifts. There was a small tree in the living-room, which I might add was about 3/4 the size of our whole house. The living-room had a baby grand piano in it. My grandpa would play the piano at times, and we would all sit there waiting for our gifts. There was 4 boy's my cousins all older, and my sister and me, and then my 2 younger brothers. And of course my grandparents and my aunt and uncle and my parents.
The carpet was so fluffy, shag and white as snow... Well my grandma took me aside and gave me some bracelet's.... they were probably only worth 2 or 3 dollars, but they meant a lot to me... she told me not to tell anyone, they was a secret... I think I was about 10 or 12 years old. I wish I still had them.... :(

Wow you really cut to the chase. I'm a Christian, so in that way it holds a lot of meaning. But other than that, it depends on what year it is, even or odd. I'm divorced, I have my kids on even years, so, on odd years, it's a very sad time. Christmas time really isn't the same without my kids here. I don't even want to decorate or put up a tree, or join the family in any of the traditions we've built over the years. I know that sounds totally self centered and like I'm having a pity-party, oh well.

Wow! What wonderful answers! I watched 'Because of Winn Dixie' the other night, and these answers remind me of the candy that they ate, it was sweet, but they could taste 'sadness' in it.
I can't help but think of Mary, when she gave birth to Jesus, how she must have felt such joy! But also sadness, knowing she would have to let go of her Son who was born to die.
It is that same mixture I see in allot of these answers. It's like those candy coated almonds...you take the bitter with the sweet.

God Bless you all this Christmas and may you find joy, even in the smallest of things.

I once saw a sign that said " Joy is not the absence of sorrow...it's the presence of GOD."

As for your question...yes, Christmas is most definitely a special time for me.

I remember wanting Mrs Beasly. I didn't get her that year, but The next year when I went out to the tree on Christmas morning, I saw her in a white high chair. Santa had written me a note. Said he was sorry he didn't get it to me the year before. Merry Christmas. I was so happy!

Christmas makes me sad....When you think you don't have dad anymore while others still have...when you think that you have a mom but she's far away to work for you... you have aa brother and he's married and has its own family.....and when you think that you'll just spend your christmas alone....then what was christmas all about?????

No it's so boring! sometimes I celebrate Hanukkah and other times I celebrate x-mas..but it's all so depressing..my parents almost never celebrate it with me and my little brother ..they just leave to their own party's and leave us alone with a lot of stuff of coarse..but still I hate it! Then in the night I get to go visit all these people who are my relatives but who seem like strangers .. = (

I love Christmas!!...
the way everybody is just so happy, together, you see smiles ans hugs everywhere.. you get to be with your family all day and night.. sing, laugh, remember past christmas...

eventhough it´s sometimes sad, because you remember all of your loved ones who have parted... still it´s my favorite time, holiday, everything...
