During the early part of the menstrual cycle, it is easier for bacteria that cause infection to stick to the cells of the urethra. Soon after ovulation, it is harder for those bacteria to stick to the cells of the urethra....so yes, it may be related to your period.

You might want to try some prevention this next month (after this one is resolved.)
1) Start drinking NO SUGAR ADDED cranberry juice. Straight unsweetened cranberry juice is pretty tart...but there are brands that have other fruit juices added - apple, grape, etc., just make sure it says "no sugar added" on the label.
2) Empty your bladder frequently and completely. You didn't mention your age, but if you are sexually active, urinate after intercourse, careful about hygiene, etc. See the website below for more details.
3) Take ALL of your prescribed antibiotics and take them regularly. If the label says "twice daily", that means every 12 hours, etc. You need consistent levels of the medicine in your system for it to work properly.

Hope that helps.

Drink some cranberry juice and make your self a dr.'s appt. I extremely have had uti's on and stale all my existence too, and they extremely kicked into extreme equipment even as i develop into pregnant. I even had to spend the evening on the well being center getting iv antibiotics for one among them. UTI's an exceedingly hardship-free even as pregnant, yet also they're much better risky with the aid of the undeniable fact that's way less stressful for the micro organism to back up into your kidneys, and reason a kidney an infection which will will make you and the baby very very ill, and would even reason a miscarriage. There are otc uti drugs, yet you need to by no skill ever take any medicine even as pregnant that has no longer been extremely approved through your man or woman clinical specialist. The cranberry juice is reccomended because it helps to sparkling out your equipment, yet there is not any drugs in it in any respect, so that's secure for each man or woman. Your clinical specialist will prescribe you antibiotics (some thing like Cipro or Macrobid) that you're going to probable ought to take two times an afternoon for ten days, and drink a number of water. The antibiotics will preserve it, yet when some thing transformations (like your back starts hurting extremely badly, and also you get better naseaus) you would wanna evaluate going to the ER. that's what got here about to me the day till now i finished up contained in the well being center. The micro organism had began to electrify my kidneys, and when you consider that they're placed hostile on your back, it brought about discomfort there. Oh, and attempt to be particular to apply the restroom as we talk after having sex. sex is a hardship-free reason for uti's (they're no longer std's precisely, yet when the micro organism is there, the action of sex can push it interior your urinary tract) and utilising the lavatory can assist flush it out till now it may initiate to make you ill. wish that enables! strong success, and congratulations on the baby!

I've used to get uti's all the time, but especially during my period, not sure why. Check out D-mannose powder. Its a concentrate of the simple sugar in cranberry juice. Take one spoonful and the uti usually flushes out of your system right away. I haven't had uti in years since taking this stuff.

The best brand i've found: U tract

No there is no connection between the two. UTI's are caused by an overgrowth of bacteria in the bladder. You need to be sure you are drinking enough liquids to keep your urine dilute. Also be sure the doctor does a culture and sensitivity of your urine this time to be sure he knows what bug is causing your UTI and what med will best take care of it. Since you seem to be prone to UTI's you would be wise to drink plenty of cranberry juice daily or take cranberry capsules to help with your urine.

I agree with the previous poster. Also, drink plenty of cranberry juice; cranberries have antibacterial components that are good for helping with UTIs. I think there is a pill called AZO that's OTC and good for treating them also.

Good luck!

Minimise your sugar liquid intake and drink only water from trysted sources. Have your med history checked for family members who have recurring uti. The period is coincidental. Douche regularly with a water based douche.

Some women get uti's one right after another. Call the nurse and tell her your concern. Even sex can cause this, honeymoon cystitis, it's called. The doc may want to check your glucose level to see if it is high. Best of luck to you.
