I have a friend that is 27 years old, and has just been told by her doctor that she may be entering early menopause. She had her last period in July, and has not had another since. What else could this be. I told her to get tested for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

You gave her some good information. She needs to have some labs taken. She shouldn't let the doc drop it like this. She needs to see someone who will follow up with her care. Best of luck!

Did the doctor do blood work to check hormone levels. Some people actually get menopause very early. Also, you can get to heavy or too thin and disrupt your periods.

It is possible. It is called premature menopause, when you're still in your 20s, 30s, or early 40s. One of the causes is premature ovarian failure. In the case of premature menopause, you may have antibodies to your own ovarian tissue, to your endometrium, or to one or more of the hormones regulating ovulation.
In spite of that she should be tested with different labs.
