Children always want what you have, you should continue using a regular cup ONLY under supervision. When baby's start with cups they don't realize that they must tilt the cup back down to avoid chocking. With a sippy cup the child has to suck on it to force the liquid out no sucking = no liquid. With a regular cup there is no control. But Go you! It is awesome to take that bottle to sippy cup trans. Try not to get caught up in the " My baby's growing up so fast" emotion after all you are a ways from potty training. Definitely start the sippy cup.

I think it is great that he can drink from a cup already. The only thing that i think you will run into is when you go places and he wants to drink...you cant just hand him a regular cup in the car and you probably want to wean him off a bottle...and plus when he starts walking..he is going to want to take the cup with him on all over the place and spill it. I would suggest giving him the sippy cup when he is on the go..and a regular cup at the table.

If you have the patients to give him a regular cup go for it. It is definitely a skill to learn for a infant. I found with my children that they got addicted to the sippy cups like a bottle. I perfered to use the sippy cups without the stoppers in them unless I was going out somewhere.
Just as a caution sippy cups that have juice are very bad for a little ones teeth, they usually take a long while drinking with those cups and the sugar in the juice is then constantly attacking their teeth. A nurse recommended only water in them because it isn't very good with sugary fluids.

Give him a regular cup when SERIOUSLY supervised and eating at a table or somewhere totally confined, but he's really little for that. Give him sippy cups. They are better than bottles for them to have.
My son couldn't drink from a cup on his own well enough for me not to worry about him until he was a little more than a year. He's almost three now, and I still pack a 'sports bottle' (my favorite has a flip top and built in straw, it's way cool) when we are on the go.

The sippy cup is a great transition from bottles, not to mention, a great asset to have in order to develope skills such as holding onto the cup and becoming more independant! Yes, buy your son a Sippy cup and sit back with a smile as you watch him learn how to use it!

I say if he does good on a regular cup go for it. But sippy cups are convenient when outside of the home.

Just stay relaxed. You'll probably want to buy him a sippy cup eventually because when he gets more independent he'll spill less. But for now a regular cup is just fine. So long as everyone's enjoying themselves!

At six months I don't think that they are ready for either. But if you must and you feel that this is something that needs to be done then buy him a leak proof sippy cup and watch him very carefully. At that age kids can get choked very easily. So pay close attention to him.

I like sippy cups, no spills. but you need to be careful it doesn't take the place of a bottle. alot of moms send their child to bed with one, they get use to it, cry if they don't get the sippy and it does terrible things to their teeth. Just always use it as you would use a real cup
