Its pointless!

Why should you or I or anyone care which "party" someone belongs to! I just want a canidate with good speaking and leadership skills and has good ideas, and most importantly, cares about what WE WANT, not what their party stands for!

I'm siding with George Washington on this one!

"I'd prefer to change the current system so that third parties have a decent chance.

With the electoral college, there is very little chance for a 3rd party to have a chance at winning the elections.

Most civilized countries in the world have more than two political parties. " --Searcher

Ideally, we vote for the person who's idea(l)s represent that which we agree with, and who will have American citizens' best interests at heart.

Unfortunately, some politicians say one thing and do another once in office. Or, serve their own (and their rich cronies') interests at the expense of the U.S.

Yes, but Washington watched the parties form before his eyes, and he was not above partisanship. (REsearch: Hamiltonians vs Jeffersonians).

Basically, I believe the two party system isn't a "system" at all. It happened quite naturally - the founders did not intentionally split inot parties - it just happened that way, and it's natural enough, given that people will not agree, and the people who do agree with one another will naturally group together.

I have no problem with the two party "system" - it has served us quite well the past 175 years or so.

Unification party. We will have the dems, the reps, the libs and the unis. America needs a party to unify, to join together all those people who don't want tofall into the establishedparties. I am also pretty sure that this idea will be ridiculed. Until , of course, these ideas are the only ones left at the end of theline.

I love America, I love freedom....I love us. Let's rock America!!!

Agree--we need to break the hold of the good old boy system of two parties in power. European nations have multiple parties, equally recognized, and they have to work together. Our two parties have conived over the past 40 years to make it almost impossible for another party or parties to compete in the political environment. We were taught in school the one party system was undemocratic, although they did have multiple candidates; our two party system is just as undemocratic by purposefully excluding anyone else.

Name a democratic country that doesn't have 2 or more viable political parties. Trying to ban them would be like trying to hold back the tide with a toothbrush.

Most people consider the USA to be a one party state like communist China - you just have two factions which are both supported by rich white men.

I completely agree with you! However, it will never ever happen.
The fat cats in Washington have a system, and it works for them. Why would they change it?
They wouldn't.
It's a shame, really. But you're right, Washington had it right, all these parties do is divide us.

agreed... but to change the system, you need the current leeches to approve the changes.
