There are 15 African countries with similar genocides occurring. The UN will most likely never certify Darfur as an instance or they will have to recognize the other cases. This will raise the question of why the UN has been ignoring Africa for the last 50 years.
Besides, too many European countries are raping the continent for financial gain, the UN will bully around the US and most third world nations, but tends to defer to European countries. Being that Koffi Annan is African I would have thought he would have paid more attention to his country and the rest of the continent. But I'm sure that much like the Food-For-Oil program there is a lot of money going to him and his son so he is letting the atrocities continue.

The UN is useless and a drain on US dollars. I would stand up and cheer the day a US politician led the move to withdraw from the UN and boot them the hell out of the country. It embarrasses me as an American to be associated with such a bunch of stand by and do nothing wimps.

Of course not. That would mean the UN would have to do something about it, and we all know that will never happen. Hell, it took the UN 60 years to commerate the Holocaust.
