i listen to missing by evanescence...its the most depressing song ive ever heard-lyrically- which helps to get your feelings out.

I love The Cure too, although I think their newer stuff is junk.
When I'm depressed which isn't that often really I sometimes mope around, maybe cry or write in a diary, but usually I do something creative like do a drawing or take some photos and that takes my mind off it and gives me an outlet.

I'm more of a writer so I find it cathartic to put it down on paper just to get it out or cry which helps.
As for music... Green Day's, "Time of your life", Hoobastank's, "If I were you" & Coldplay's, "Fix you" are really soothing, inspiring to listen to...
