It is not true. A blood test is more accurate early in pregnancy, and has a lower false neg rate. As you get further along, you get better results with urine tests.
If you want the blood test, then you'll have to go somewhere else it seems. Or wait a few weeks and re do the HPT. Eventually you'll know definitively one way or the other :)
Good Luck!

10 days prolly isnt long enough. Her hgc level needs to be higher. I didnt show psitive until about 1.5 months after a missed period. Id say wait a few weeks. If she wants to know earlyer then get a blood test done. If a pee tests comes out positive chances are its acurate cuz the lines are only activated from the hgc hormone. Oh and if she had her LMP 10 days ago-shes prolly not pregnant cuz that means last month she didnt get pregnant, the cycle has just restarted, so have lots of sex in the next 2-6 days and shell have good chances of getting pregagnt cuz she should be ovulating.....wait 4 weeks and test again. From what you say here your wife just had her period 10 days ago?

That sounds ridiculous! Blood is very accurate and does not lie. I too would check somewhere else they didn't seem very helpful. Were all 3 tests the same brand b/c you may try a different one...but if 3 showed neg. you probably are not. They are pretty accurate.

It is not the same thing at all...a blood test can show your a week pregnant...a pee test can show like 3 or more weeks.....my doctor does both..you go in and get a pee test...if that comes up postive then you dont get a blood test but if its negative he gives you a blood test to make sure....if i was you...id look for another doctor...the reception is not a doctor..she is not there to tell you what to do...and if i was you id call up there ask to speak to the nurse and complain non extensively about her...that is so rude of her! goodluck to you sweetie!

Blood tests are supposed to be more accurate and detect the slightest increase in Hcg hormone where urine tests has to have a certain about or that hormine to detect it. I would go somewhere else definitly and get a blood test if you really think you are. Good Luck to you.

first of all the doctor should give you what you want. and the help shouldnt put her two sense in it. . .its really none of her business. i would go somewhere else for sure. If they dont know what to do before your pregnancy what makes you think they'll know what to do when you are pregnant. . ive been through this. . .its hell!! i would go somewhere else!! get other opinions! and blood is way more accurate then a pee test!!
i hope that helps ya!!!
good luck by the way!!!

I always heard that the blood test was more accurate, that it is capable of detecting much smaller levels of HCG than urine tests.

Hmm that's a good question I always thought that a blood test was more acurate. Strange. Hmmm who knows, if the nurse said that it's the same then I guess that it is the same then.
