I mostly need performance and towing specs. I also need personal opinions from current owners of each, as far as performance and reliability.

From my adventure, i might want to flow with the Ford truck. The Chevrolets have had some gas device topics and the steer sparkling of automobiles are literally not very strong. Cam and crank sensor mess united stateswith the steer sparkling of automobiles are very difficulty-loose and many have had engine and transmission complications. once you're going to purchase a steer sparkling of truck, then get the Cummins diesel. attempting to get Daimler/Chrysler to guarantee an engine can be a complication. I have 2 Ford F-series tremendous duty automobiles, one is a wrecker and the different a ramp truck. both are diesels and that i have had very few problems with them. The ramp has the older 7.3 liter potential Stroke and the wrecker has the more recent 6.0 diesel. I have had some driveability topics with the 6.0, besides the undeniable fact that that is been respectable. If that is a mild truck, I also recommend the Toyota Tundra or the Nissan Titan to boot, both ok engineered and both have an rather solid dependabilty list.

Ford has won the sales thing because of companies purchasing them, Chevt has always won the private owner thing. Edmunds.com named Chevy the toughest/best truck, and Dodge was said to be the most comfortable. Last year Toyota had the most recalls, but the media "failed" to notice since millions would stand against them because of thier reputation. These days reputation is nothing, technology advances so fast it cant keep up. For ex: three years ago GM was one of the worst companies, now they have the most top-rated vehicles, and the quality/reliability surpasses Toyota. Honda is still on top of the reliability ratings. Ford also had more recalls than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined, for reasons like exploding engines and wheels falling off. Here is a quote from the Washington Posts review of the Toyota CAmry "one of which is the Chevrolet Malibu, which in my real-world driving experience has been every bit as good and reliable as the much-ballyhooed Camry but has been maligned primarily because it is a Chevrolet". Oddly enough that was an '04 Malibu VS the totally redisigned '07 Camry. Common problems with Toyotas are plastic rattling until it falls off. People then complain that when they take it to the dealer to be fixed they just say "The cars are made with so much plastic its practically impossible to fix" GM is also the worlds fastest growing manufacturer, and that dosent happen by accident.

Dodge is the best if you are looking at a 2500 or 3500 series. The primary reason is that Dodge carries the Cummings Diesel and their trucks also have Mercedes components since they are part of Daimler Chrysler. The Dodge is a straight six design, so it uses less oil and electrical components than its relative competitors. More into the meat of it the Dodge's Cummings diesel use a straight and shorter piston arm as opposed to the cantilever design on its competitors, making it more durable. The Dodge Cummings diesel overall has significantly less parts so there are less things to go wrong and less things to repair. It also comes standard with a 100,000 mile warranty. Its brakes are the largest in class for better stopping power of that load you may be pulling. The hydro-formed frame of the Dodge is thicker and stiffer metal than its competitors. The Dodge diesel has larger available cabs, and beds. You can go on and on, visit dodge.com for more info.

My husband says go with the Chevy Duramax LBZ engine code, 360 rear wheel horsepower; 600 foot pounds of torque and you can't go wrong. Fords are nice looking, but you can't beat the Isuzu engine in the Duramax for longevity and reliability. And the Allison transmission speaks for itself. The Cummings Diesel is not a bad motor, but it eats up Dodge transmissions.

Dodge 3500 4X4 5 speed transmission first, my friend has one and he has used it more than once to pull the impossible. Great low end torque when needed and 20+ MPG when not under full load.
