The closest one I know of is just South of the Silverlake Reservoir. I do believe they have tow right next to eachother, one for small dogs and one for the larger ones.

Go South on the I-5, exit Fletcher, take a right, it'll turn into Glendale Blvd. Take a right on Silverlake Blvd. and follow it around the reservoir and you'll find it at the end.

OK, so you have shopping out of the way. You could visit Woodbury University, which straddles the Glendale/Burbank line, or Glendale College. Occidental College is also just five minutes away in Eagle Rock. Disney has studios and offices in Glendale, and tours just over the line in adjacent Burbank. Forest Lawn has a cemetery in Glendale, and they aggressively market their artistic displays. Glendale has a large and thriving Armenian-American community, and you can find wonderful food in the Armenian-Middle Eastern style. One of my favorites is Shiraz restaurant. But I think you should take Obviousman's advice and see what's what in LA.

Heck...just put the dog in the car, take Colorado over to the freeway, and get off the fwy @ Griffith Park. Your pup can poop all over.
