Ever hear off Veto power everything in this country is about to be put on lock down due to party politics. Bush wants this and the Dems want that and neither will get anything. Every election year I realize more and more why I hate our political system.

You are seriously misinformed. We have already LOST the war. Our troops aren't winning; they're just dodging the bullets and bombs while praying they make it home alive.

We lost because:

1. We shouldn't have been there in the first place; we had no business deposing SH. That was the Iraqi people's job. Also we should have been much more culturally aware and realize that the Shiites and Sunnis have had long histories of animosity and changing the status quo was likely to upset that delicate balance in the country.

2. When we did invade, we didn't bring enough soldiers. The first indication of that is when the Iraqi museums were robbed of their antiquities and no one stopped them.

3. Too much money was lost in corruption, and Iraqi infrastructure money did not materialize.

4. The American soldiers used too-aggressive tactics against ordinary Iraqi citizens (breaking down doors in the middle of the night, shooting parents dead in front of their children, bombing wedding parties), causing them to turn against us.

5. The Abu Gurab prison scandal and no one high up in the military or administration paid any consequences.

The article points out a key fact - that the Democrats were elected because they realize - and the administration doesn't - that the American public HAS HAD IT with the Iraq War. We're tired of seeing soldiers being killed; we're tired of hearing that another 50 iraqis, or 500, or 2500 have been killed; we're tired of spending $90 billion annually on a useless war; and we see no end in sight.

Don't you get a little skeptical when you read articles like this?

Headline: "Democrats To Force Change In Iraq Policy."

Sounds like a damned good plan to me - and then when you read the article, it explains why they really can't do much to change policy because they can't muster a 2/3 vote to veto anything the President, as Commander in Chief, initiates concerning the war.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of this type of rhetoric and spin - I think it's time the people were just told the truth - the facts - and let us draw the conclusions.

One thing is for sure - any early withdrawal or "cut and run" strategy will result in a terrorist victory - and tactics of murdering and maiming thousands of innocent men, women and children must never be allowed to "earn" any dirt bag ideology any kind of victory.

Don't be so gloom & doom. Buck-up little camper. Saddam has been tried & sentenced to death. His evil sons dead. Iraq & Afganistan have had free elections. We are winning the war. Don't let the rhettoric get to you. Fight the good fight. It's not easy. The U.S. & her allies have to not only win the war on the ground but also the war of words & rhettoric. We need to understand this. Democrats, Republicans, everyone who is for good in this world.

Yada yada yada. I guess that bush should have made better choices sooner then, huh? I find it amusing that Republicans are blaming the Democrats for the failed Iraq policy. Dems have not even taken over yet. Doomsayers beware the judgement of history. Republican, not Democratic, hands are bloody.
