I think that since smokers choose to smoke they should have to step aside to smoke. I don't think they should be forced to stand outside in cold weather, rain, snow, etc. There should be a place for them to go that's comfortable. but I shouldn't be forced to breathe in 2nd hand smoke because of a lazy smoker who makes excuses. They are rare, but they do exist. All my friends who smoke are more then polite and step out each time; and I never have to ask them.

Against smoking in restaurants and public buildings. But why can't we (I am a smoker) smoke in bars? or out in the open? It hurts no one if some one says second hand smoke, I will smack you Its outside in fresh air smoke goes up and 80% of smokers blow there smoke up and to the side anyways. As far as in the bar Smoking and drinking is like Peanut Butter and Jelly. It goes together.
I feel that there has to be a compromise. I feel the laws are fine the way they are except for the states that passed the retarded laws that you can only smoke in your car or your home.
I beg you people let us smokers have whats left we gave up allot for your smoke free environment. Plus isn't kind of hypocritical to wave the U.S. flag and then turn around and take away practical use of a legal substance? WAKE UP! your rights our now infringing upon ours.

Against. Even though I used to be a smoker, I still think it's rude. In college whenever it was raining, students would huddle outside the buildings under the overhang but right in front of the doors so that either coming or going you had to walk right through a thick cloud of smoke. If you're that desperate for a cig then walk to your car or stand in the rain. Also, you never know who may have allergies, or someone may just NOT want to stink. And in restaraunts, how stressful could a dinner possibly be that you need to smoke during it?

Against smoking in public places.
Supports creation of designated smoking zones. Smokers can then enjoy their freedom to smoke and at the same time limit the damage to themselves and fellow smokers.

Let me first say that I do not smoke, and I do not like cigarette smoke at all.
Tha being said, I do not however believe that the government should be able to tell people that they can or cannot smoke even though you can legally go down to any store any buy cigarettes. If I don't want to be subjected to it, I can simply avoid going to places where I am going to be subjected to it (smoking sections of restaurants, bars, etc...).

I'm AGAINST smoking in public places. I personally HATE the smell of cigarette smoke and I hate when people smoke around me, I mean EVERYONE knows what smoking and second hand smoke does to you so why do it? And if they want to smoke...go smoke in their own home and kill themselves...don't drag the rest of us with them!

well, i used to own some stock in tobacco companies, when i did i was all for everyone lighting up everywhere at all times. If i am going to a bar, well, it just seems natural for people to be smoking there. I dont spend every waking moment in bars, so it doesnt bother me. I know its bad for me, but i dont really care too much one way or the other. Id have to say yes for bars, no for restaurants.

Even when I smoke I just felt it was rude to have people breath my smoke when they didn't want too Eating dinner is just plane gross with someone smokeing.killing the taste of the food.
The other thing is people who stand right in the door way and you have to breath that crap going in and out even when theres a law to be away from the building
