The story you refer to above is from the film 'Sleepers'. Robert De Niro is playing a real Priest (not someone posing as a priest). There is also a film where Robert De Niro acts as an escaped convict who poses as a priest called "We're No Angels". It is a comedy with Demi Moore and Sean Penn but does not involve child abuse.

Its called Sleepers, origninally a book by Lorezno Cacattera (i'm unsure about this selling) who was one of the boys in the book. Its a good film , but the book is amazing. He also wrote another book about his life living with an abusive father.

the film your'e thinking of is i think "sleepers" with brad pitt and jason patrick playing 2 of the grown up boys and kevin bacon playing the sadistic guard, but de niro's character is actually a priest, he did play a pretend preist in a movie with i think it was sean penn called "we're no angels", which i think was a remake of a humphrey bogart movie
