It's not really a big deal except that I usually don't wake up until I need to go BAD... when my bladder feels like it's stretched to the absolute limit and I need to run to the bathroom to avoid wetting myself. Occasionally the need to pee is so intense that i even "leak" a little, or a lot, before i can get to the bathroom -- anywhere from getting the front of my boxers a little wet to, rarely, my bladder pretty much completely emptying and wetting the bed. The worst part, though, is that I often become WIDE awake when this happens, full of adrenaline, and not able to get back to sleep easily, or at all, afterward.

Is there any way I can get myself to wake up sooner in the night so my bladder isn't already at the overflowing point and it doesn't screw up my sleep as much? Anyone else experienced something like this or have any ideas?

i'm only 29 so i really doubt it's a prostate issue... and it's happened pretty much my whole adult life; doctors have told me nothing is really wrong with me except that i have a small bladder and sleep quite soundly, so it's hard for me to wake up as quickly. i did have a nightly bedwetting problem for a long time growing up, but pretty much stopped at age 12 or so...

Seems to me the goal should be not to wake up. The best solution to that is to allow your body to process fluids and be able to empty your bladder before sleeping.

At least for a week, try not drinking ANYTHING at least 4 hours before you go to bed. That will allow your kidneys to process the fluids and fill your bladder before you go to bed.

That will give you an opportunity to empty your bladder BEFORE you go to sleep.

If a week of that regimen does not cure your problem, then I would strongly suggest a visit to a urologist.

While 29 is young, it is not too young to prostate issues to arise.

Been slammin the snake a lot? wait till yu get older!!then yu get up 4 times a night!!what I do is not drink anything from about 7oclock and go to bed at 11, that way I dont have a lot to store up and wake me up? usually 6 hrs is the limit for me? at 530 or 6am its coffee time!! also do yu take any meds? that could cause this? diuretics sometimes work for 12-14 hrs?

"Normal" would be 1 or 2 times a night.... 5 times at the age of 17?? If you were 40 it may be prostate issues....Or maybe juvenile diabetes?? I hope someone has a better answer.

My bf has the same problem. Very annoying to him, and he doesn't get a lot of sleep. Do have your prostate checked--he is too chicken to--especially if you are NOT drinking gallons and gallons of liquid during the daytime.

There are medications out there that can help you stop the problem. Ask your MD if he can prescribe something for it. I had the same problem until he put me on a medication to stop it.

You may have OAB (overactive bladder). See a urologist.
