You said your friend is keeping you from dating the guy you really want to.

This is absolutely ludicrious!

If your friend is a true friend, she or he would want for you what makes you happiest.

I'm sorry to say, but with the little information you have provided, it would appear that your friend is extremely selfish.

Just because you used to have a great time hanging out with your friend doesn't necessarily mean it will be like that forever. Some friendships are meant to come and go - they may serve a special purpose, to teach you something about the other person or even yourself - and sometimes when that purpose is finished, the relationship finishes too.

It's sad when you have had a friendship, particularly if it has lasted for some time, however, sometimes that just the way relationships work.

The simple truth is that not everyone who is in your life now will be in your life forever, so therefore not everyone from your past will walk your life path with you into your future.

Nonetheless, you should be sensitive to your friend. Perhaps even say something like you can understand if she may be feeling a little threatened or left out, however you should make it very clear that who you choose to date is a decision for you and you alone and you should go with what makes you happy.

Good luck, and for goodness sake, please go with what makes you happy and don't let anyone - at the very least, a friend - hold you back.

your friend is jelous of your new relationship and is feeling abandoned. try to spend a little more time with your old friend so she doesn't feel left behind.
how would you feel? think of it that way.
