Get a lawyer, a good one recommended by a friend or someone Else's friend who is good at "cleaning a no good s.o.b out" !!! In no way should you go for a no-fault as he hasn't performed his family obligations (or something like that) The lawyer can give you more grounds for divorce, OK You want the house, the car, half the bank account as of the day he left, spousal support and all legal fees paid. If you have been with him more than 10 yrs you also want 1/2 his retirement if he has a company plan and if not 1/2 his social security check. If the lawyer sees a better deal for you in selling all of yours and his assets (house, car etc, etc) go for that as it will put cash in your pocket. Now you get the idea of where I am coming from? I will bet the judge gives you all this and more(whatever your lawyer can come up with) along with all legal fees paid i:e your legal fees and charges incurred for filing fees and so forth and so on. Good Luck and GOD BLESS

You MUST have a lawyer. Have your son take you to Legal Aid when they open and sit there all day until someone talks to you. That's the only way to get the money you deserve from the marriage.

If you are disabled perhaps you can get some advice from a consumer advocate through your local Independent Living Center for the Disabled. They offer all types of services to individuals with disabilities - maybe they can help you get in touch with legal aid. I hope & pray that you and your husband will work things out.

I think there is some way for him to have to pay court costs.
Don't stop with the calls to legal aid. Call every hour if you have to. They'll get sick of it and call you.
Don't even let this jerk keep the house, the car and everything!!
Fight for it all.
In my divorce, we had 5 cars. I was the only one working, hubby wasn't. I didn't fight for anything, so I got NOTHING!! NOt even one car to go to work with!!
Fight for your rights!

I would try getting some information regarding the resources available to you - try phoning a transition house or battered women's shelter. The staff there may be able to point you in the right direction. They usually have tons of resources and help for women in your situation. Good luck!

Call a local battered womens shelter in your area. They generally have resources available for you concerning housing, legal representation and counseling free of charge. Best of luck to you.
