CHILD abuse eh? You say you are 22 yrs old - this is not a child. You also write very well for someone with the disabilities you listed.

OK - assuming that you are who you say you are....... Go to the police. Take the person who typed for you - obviously you are comfortable enough with them and trust them with your 'history'. Take them along for moral support.

Remember, it is a criminal offense to make a false report, but if you are telling us the truth, you need to report it to the police and see that justice is served.

It would be necessary to know more about the kind of abuse you are stating and by whom. Is it someone in your homelife or community. If you are 22 you are classified as an adult that has special needs and is developmentally disabled. It doesn't matter what your disabilites are you have to contact the police department for abuse of an adult. You can contact Adult Protective Services as well through your Health Unit. You will need to document the event, the present date, full name of victim, date of birth, and the dates and observations of the times the incidents occured. It is also best if you video tape your concerns and what happened. Then sometimes if it does go to court they can use the tape especially for special needs so you don't have to be pressured on the stand and try state it over again. There are laws to protect you and others, use them and call the Police.

First of no matter if you have dissabilities or not, no one has the right to abouse anyone. I am not sure what type of abuse as you did not say. Do you have a mentor a good friend if so confide in them they maybe able to aid you in this. If not contact loacal authorities if it is that bad or social services. If you found someone to type this they can lead you to a social service department in your aread found right in the Phonebook front pages even if it means calling your local town hall and getting the number. Then on top of that you have rights under the dissabilities act. 1-800-452-1948 this is the one in my state but they have resources to help you anywhere you are with any problem. This is the dissability rights center and it is anation wide thing and law. By your age I am not sure if you are in school but gudiance counselors there are helpful and confidential. Also Department of Human Services in your area if it is hapening in a work location. Please post another question with the specifics of your abuse it would make it easier for everyone to help also where you are from not trying to pry but what state. as some here may have the specifics on that state. But if we have the nature of the abuse and where you are located you can get some more specific answers. I can say No one handicapped or not has rights. And desrves no abuse.

Because you are over the age of 18, you are legally viewed as an adult, but that doesn't mean that you don't deserve protection from abuse and that protection is out there. If you feel able, you or a person you trust can make a report to the police. If you don't feel comfortable taking that step, most areas offer Adult Protective Services for adults with disabilities that is meant to provide intervention in cases of abuse. Illinois even has an entire legal act titled Abuse of Adults with Disabilities Intervention Act. I don't know about other areas, but I assume there are legal processes in most places. Abuse of anyone is not acceptable. I hope you are able to connect with the resources that you need.

It believe either one of them want extra awareness, animal abuse, and youngster abuse. In my opinion they're each as unhealthy a each and every different. No dwelling creature will have to cross via the abuse a few cross via.

MRDD individuals are a protected class, just like elderly and children.

If you are being abused, call the police, make a complaint. You are a legal adult. If you are not compentent call your caseworker or an MRDD advocate in your area (call your local MRDD office and they can hook you up if you aren't sure). That person, advocate or case worker can help you to get out of the abusive situation.

You need to talk to adult/child protective services. There are people out there that can help you and that truly care about you. Sometimes asking for help is the hardest thing you can do. It does not show weakness, it shows strength. If those people do not listen, go to social services, go to a high school campus and talk to the counselor, go to the social security office. There is help for you, just ask for it, that is the first step.
Good Luck.

Ask someone to take you to the police station and speak to officers there. Make sure you are prepared and have a list of the ways that you are being abused.
