I'm getting married in two days and need to hem my dress myself. I'm not sure what the material is but it looks like satin but is thicker. Can I get away with just a needle and thread? I'm afraid to use anything like stitch-witch as 1. the iron may burn the fabric or 2. the fabric is too heavy to stick. Any ideas or advice?

just get thread the same color as the dress. and do close stitches on the outside of the dress and larger one on the inside. it should look fine.

Hi, my name is Eunice Saunders and I would suggest using the filament threat that looks like fishing line or a very fine cotton of the same color as your dress. Depending on the type of hem that is in the gown now....you may be able to hem it on a sewing machine which would make it faster....otherwise it may take you several hours to hem it by hand if it is a full gown. God Bless your Wedding and Marriage. Eunice

On my wedding dress, the tailor used some thread that almost looked like fishing line.... it's almost invisible. Go to a craftstore/sewing place and ask them. They are the experts! Good luck! and God Bless your marriage.
