R is a variable. r=-3

Steps:

1. Change the signs to all of the subtraction so it would look like:
3(r+(-6)) +2=4(r+2)+(-21)

2. Multiply all the numbers inside the parenthesis by the numbers outside the parenthesis:

3r+(-18)+2=4r+8+(-21)

3. Cancel out the negative 21 by adding positive 21 to make it 0 then adding it to -18:
3r+3+2=4r+8

4.Add 3 and 2:
3r+5=4r+8

5. Add -8 to 8 to make it 0 then add it to 5:
3r+(-3)=4r

6.Add negative 3r to 3r to make it 0 then to 4r:
(-3)=r

3(r-6) + 2 = 4 (r +2 ) - 21
3r-18 +2 = 4r + 8 - 21
3r - 16 = 4r - 13
put like terms on like sides and when bringing across things the symbol chages.
3r - 4r = +16 - 13
work it out.
r = 3

3(r-6)+2=4(r+2)-21
=> 3r-18+2=4r+8-21
=>3r-4r=8-21+18-2
=>-r=3=>r= -3

removing the brackets
3r-18+2=4r+8-21
simplifying
3r-16=4r-13
adding 16
3r=4r+3
adding -3r
0=r+3
adding -3
r=-3

this is math problem so You just need to solve for r, since this is a variable, an unknown number, you need to find the value of it, r does not stand for anything, it is just an unknown number and you need to find the value. that's all.
