We live in Okinawa Japan so I have access to any kind of food I just need to know what to make. I was going to dress up in a Kimono and put my hair up and light some candles and have a japanese dinner all ready for him when he gets home. But I need some ideas on how to make it true japanese style and some food recipes?

Oh and we don't do Sashimi or Tofu

Sukiyaki is delicious.

You can just take out the tofu if you don't like it, but the tofu is incredicbly delicious after it soaks up the sauce. You can even buy the sauce if you want to, they should have it at a local market. I hope you enjoy it.

First, a comment: while in Japan you both really have to learn how to like sashimi and sushi - it's not really so bad, and you can find lots of fresh sashimi there. Freshness is the key. To get over the initial "yuk" factor of eating raw fish, drink plenty of cold sake. Before you know it raw anything will be tasting good!

To your question: try epicurious.com and search the word "japanese." Their recipes are usually pretty easy and best of all each recipe has reader feedback and reviews of how the dish worked. Good luck!

you say you are in Japan? do this....go to a food market (ex. lower level of department stores) where they sell aleady prepared food and buy all kinds in small quantities. make sure you have variety in texture and flavors. then at home, just serve everything on small, attractive dishes - presentation is key.

Go on-line and search for "Recipes" and/or "Japanese Recipes"
Good luck. A library is also an option.
