Around 5 months they can hear things inside your body, heartbeat, your voice(vibration),intestines,etc.. Its not until 6-7 months that they can hear things outside the womb and of course every month after hearing improves.

i dont have a batter answer then 16 weeks... thats what most people drs and web sites ive spoken to or read say. Just talk to your baby very often and he or she will come out and reccognize your voice. Also if the daddy is around i found that it helped my baby when her daddy talks to her because she heard his voice every day when i was pregnant. He can actually soothe her very wuickly now because she is used to his voice. just talk a lot to the baby!! Good luck and I hope all goes well!

about 16 - 17 weeks, where I am right now with my 4th. I have still been following week by week, which you can go to on-line and see what your baby is developing as you go along. I just read that at this week they can hear so well they can hear noises and it might even startle them. Like a dog barking they can hear, and it may even help them be used to if after they arrive. Start reading and playing music, they hear it all! As well as learning your voices.

I would go with the one that says 16 weeks, etc...I and the rest of my kids and husband alreayd talk to our baby girl and Im 20 weeks along. I have read that by then they can hear doors slam, dogs, bark, etc...They can be startled by these things, so if you are laying down and stay still, and there is any loud sudden noise, you can see if the baby starts to move.

My doctors always told me 14 weeks, although it didn't really bother me, I talked to my baby all the time. When I was in the first trimester with both of mine, and felt sick I would sing the baby lullabies (I knew they couldn't hear) but felt they could feel the love. So it doesn't matter when you start talking to the baby, it is the feeling of love that transcends everything. My doctors did actually back this up too...if that helps

They actually gave my baby a newborn hearing screening before she left the hospital. A baby can hear voices, music, and such while they are still in the womb.

A baby can hear before it is born. It just can't recognize the sounds.
