I'm stuck in a telemarketing position for another half a year because it's the entry level position in a really good company. Every day I wake up miserable and remain miserable throughout the day. How do you deal with a job you hate, especially one where you are calling people who don't want to be bothered!

You keep your eye on the day you can leave that position.

Maybe you could make a game out if your job somehow, without doing a poor job of it. .

like make up odds (maybe bet with a co-worker) about which mean or nasty response you're going to get on the next call, etc. .

there are actually ways to make it fun, and to help you realize that you don't have to take people's rejections personally, especially over the phone, but you do have to still be nice to them.

another possibility: are you allowed to have a DVD player in front of you? (or a laptop that plays DVDs)? Maybe you could be watching your favorite funny movie (with the sound turned down) while you are making calls, just to keep it interesting and bearable.

good luck and God bless you.

I don't like my job, but the pay is terrific and the benefits are awesome.

I keep at it because the job market is Hell in Michigan right now, and when I look at my son and husband, I know that I just have to keep it.

I guess it's a "grown up" thing to do. I want to rebel.

Go volunteer somewhere in a job that pays nothing and is worse then the one you have.....Then when you go back to the job you hate you will have a smile on your face.

hey, i know everyone else is being really serious, but my advice....get drunk, or high if your company doesn't have a drug test. then, surf the web, i rec'c youtube with earphones, but get the kind that look like your telephone's headset. think office space. in your situation, it will work!

It's called "change careers before you lose your joy" fast.

If the company is that good, why do you hate it.
