We live in Okinawa Japan so I have access to any kind of food I just need to know what to make. I was going to dress up in a Kimono and put my hair up and light some candles and have a japanese dinner all ready for him when he gets home. But I need some ideas on how to make it true japanese style and some food recipes?

My personal favourite is oyako-don. Here's a recipe:

They also have a recipe for katsu-don, which is similar but with pork.

Another meal that I had that I really enjoyed was to prepare rice and tempura but make it similar to fondue. Each of you can dip your ingredients in batter and drop it into a hot pot of oil on the table and eat it as it cooks. Its a lot of fun and can be nicely romantic. www.about.com also has a section on tempura:

you say you are in Japan? do this....go to a food market (ex. lower level of department stores) where they sell aleady prepared food and buy all kinds in small quantities. make sure you have variety in texture and flavors. then at home, just serve everything on small, attractive dishes - presentation is key.

good japanese food? deep fry it!

And end cap with sake! (pun intended)
