You would have to see what part of the country your family was from and you may be able to trace back a tribe. there is something called Dawes and this a good way to start researching your history, you will need both parents birth cerfificates so you can check out there parents and so on and so on ,,good luck the native american tribes were mostly disbanded when they were put on the reservations and the american government has been breaking treaties all along, i am very proud of my blackfoot roots and will always give as my nationality even if i only have about 40 percnet. ....good luck

Start by asking your parents and then follow your family tree back. I have a direct line of lineage that goes back to Osceola.
