Would you be offended if someone told you that they thought you lied about a lot of things?

I have this friend from college who always has this fantasy life as if she is living in Manhattan or Sex and the City. And everything she says is so outrageously phony sounding, such as supposedly always flying somewhere just for fun. She ain't got no job man! And on top of that, she likes to put words in my mouth; accusing me of saying things that I never once said.

I would be offended because I know for a fact that what I said was not true. But even if I was lying, I wouldn't be offended. This girl sounds like bad news and she doesn't deserve a friend like you. Don't waste your time being friends with someone who puts words in your mouth and tries to spoil your reputation. Continue to make new friends who won't talk a lot of mess and will always be there for you and support you. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Bad company corrupts good character. She sounds like trouble. She's gonna get you in trouble. Why continue to hang around someone who doesn't know how to tell the truth? What will she lie about next? Choose your friends carefully. If the constant dishonesty is bothering you this is an indication of a different set of value systems here between you & this friend. So this is probably just the beginning of the conflicts. I would limit contact with this person - not cut them off - just limit interaction before things get UGLY!
