I work part time and on the weekend at most times there are instances where bad thought s come into my mind and make me stressed and upset even when there is no reason to be at all.
How can I get my thoughts on track and count my blessings because when I go back to work I often feel drained from being so stressed.

I wish I could be peaceful and enjoy my weekends but I always need to be busy and I have hard time being still except when I am reading or praying this has been going on for a long time and I really want to go forward and move on.

I am ashamed I get these racing thoughts because I am blessed What can I do to be a better person and control or overcome this?
This has been bothering me for years and I want to change I just never knew how to put what I felt into words until now.

Since you're using "blessed" and "praying," I'm assuming you're a religious person. Hope that's fair.

From a Christian perspective, you have to remember that we're all sinners, just trying to do the very best we can in life. It's through Jesus' sacrifice that we're all forgiven for our sins.

So, because you have bad thoughts does not make you a bad person; it means you're human, like everyone else. Trust the Lord to show you what he has planned for you in due time.

You sound like my mom! She literally CANNOT relax unless she's moving! So she's a cleans constantly and goes bonkers when she can't do it. She'll even go through others' houses during visits and clean and rearrange things, even their mail! OK...she's got a much more serious problem than you do. But she's using the same thing to not be anxious: keeping busy.

My guess is that you're suffering from anxiety (don't know what from), but you've used work and prayer and reading to cover it up. The problem is, you're never looking INSIDE yourself to see WHY you're so anxious. It's probably something left over from childhood, as it is w/most people.

The best advice I can give is to get counseling (pastoral, if you prefer) and a) get to the root of the anxiety, then b) find ways to relax. For now, try deep breathing and progressive relaxation. Many people would say "keep busy" or "exercise", which you SHOULD, but clearly, you're using that to avoid dealing with the cause of the anxiety...so you need to learn to be still and not get anxious.

later on, you should try "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" (CBT)...a VERY effective way to deal w/anxiety, panic, depression and phobias, for example.

Don't feel ashamed! You're certainly not the only person who gets this...and at least you're not resorting to drugs or alcohol to deal, as so many people do

Here are a couple links for you to get some info. on your situation.

Good luck!

It sounds as if you have a big guilt trip going on. You are not allowing yourself to accept yourself as you are and realize that you deserve all the blessings you can get from this life. It's tough enough as it is without feeling guilty about the few good things you do have. Somebody has been feeding you bad messages. How about forgetting the reading and the praying so much and just do something that you find really enjoyable just for you and stop worrying about how to be a better person. Just relax. God will give you plenty of opportunities to show just how good you already are. All you have to do is meet Him halfway. Right now, He would have to hit you with a lightning bolt just to get your attention. I personally don't think God needs a middle man, so put all that wonderful energy into enjoying life to which you certainly have the right. Learn to laugh again, and simply wait. Answers will surely come, you'll see..

"As a man thinketh, so is he"

Change your thoughts, Change your life. This is easier said then done but it is very very possible. Prayer/Meditation is a great way to work on this. Focus on letting your mind relax, at first it will be very difficult, thoughts will just pop in out of now where but give it time. Do this every morning and every night, if your thoughts are just going crazy recite simple montra's like "Love" or "peace" consistnetly while you are in prayer/meditation. Whenever I think about things I dislike I always tell myself "Change your thoughts, change your life" and I recite that constantly. Also if I judge someone I will recite "love" over and over. Its not a bad thing, we are all creatures of habbit and we have been condition from a very young age so a lot of these thoughts are condition habbits/responses. IT WILL TAKE TIME TO GET RID OF THEM but you can do it if you truly desire it..

Now for some more practical things. Start reciting I AM WHO I AM. Dont apololgize for being who you are. A cornerstone of christian faith is NOT JUDGING. That includes yourself, stop judging your self so harshly, when you judge yourself and feel guilty and unworthy you begin to seperate your connection with GOD which makes the problem progressively get worse. So stop apologing. If you dont like the thoughts you are having CHANGE THEM. And remember forgive yourself and refrain from judging yourself, maybe you are having these thoughts for a reason, I believe there are no coincides and everything happens to us for a reason. Learn from this. I hope this helps, remember simple "montras" can help you change your thoughts "love love love" or "i am at peace" over and over again will allow you to change your state.

I know I don;t have a snowball's chance in Hell of getting my 10 points for this answer, but I stick by it: My guess is your problem is that you simply are in dire need of an orgasm. All you Christian types are the same: you repress your deep, carnal, animal, but all-too-HUMAN desires, and this leads to disturbed thought processes and the inability to concentrate. That is due to the frustrated subconscious trying to break through and talk to you!
Do what I say and then just tell me I'm wrong!

Have you discussed this with a counselor? That may help, to find out when and why this all started.

I would say that you may want to learn to control your thoughts, when you get those, immediately change them. Continue to do this. Some people put a rubber band on their wrist and snap it when they do something they don't like, hopefully changing that habit.

Also, when this happens, pray in your head, replace those thoughts with prayer. If they get worse, tell them to go away and continue to pray.

You can have control over this, just be strong and ask God for help and guidance in it too. I will pray for you. God Bless.
