Well avoid that first response for starter - otherwise you'll end with n an even BIGGER hole! And forget Kapersky especially - just another over-rated resource hog.
Look, apart from running the usual viral/malware scan, you may well benefit from a little system maintenance. Defrag your hard-drive (a 3rd party ap will serve you better - give Diskeeper 10 a go), as well as running a disc clean-up to clear out the clutter.
I'd also suggest running a registry cleaner/repair, as this will remove a lot of the crossed paths which will also slow your system down dramitically.

I'm quite impressed with suggestions made by other participants. They are quite sound. I just would like to add that you may want to check the utilization. Press the Control-Alt-Del keys at the same time and click the Task Manager button. You will see the Window Task Manager monitor and you may click the tab such as performance & application. This will tell you how much of your resources like memory. If how much are being use and the application running. maybe you have to much apps running and you may need more memory, hard disk space, etc. Good luck. Hope I help a little. Cheers.

go to trend micro website and click on pc-cillan for a free online virus inspection. If there's no virus it could be adware junk that came in. There's lots of free services to cover that too.
if none of this is it, make friends with a techie QUICK! LOL
