The cost of your trip will depend on the quality of the hotel, quality of restaurants, and time of year you travel. Here are some general guidelines:
Hotels in Chicago are typically less expensive on weekends and during public holidays (unless there's a major event in town). If you stay in a standard room in a 5 star hotel, you should expect to spend at least USD 300.00 per night. In high season, that same room could sell for $500 or more.
If you stay in a regular room in a 3-4 star hotel, you should expect to pay anywhere from $100 - $300 per night, depending on when you stay and what's happening in the city.
To be safe, perhaps you should budget approximately $250 per night for your hotel stay. If you get a better deal (which is completely possible), great!
Meals are much more expensive in hotels through room service. If you eat outside of the hotel, you can eat at a number of fast food restaurants (not recommended) for as little as $5.00 per meal. Or you can chose to eat at a moderately priced restaurant and spend an average of about $15-25 per meal (minus drinks). If money's no object, there are restaurants you can visit that will cost up to $200 per person for a full, wonderful meal.
Perhaps you should budget for $50-$75 per person per day for meals, assuming some days you'll eat at simple restaurants and other days you'll go all out!
Your trip can be as frugal or as lavish as you'd like it to be.
I hope this helps!

Hi, I am living in Chicago and if you stay in down town area it will be more convenient but more expensive too. Everything. As far as I know, you can get hotels around Michigan avenue in between $120 to sky per night. But you will be close of everything you want to see.The Belden -Stratford hotel is near down town and offer rooms for $99.- Swisshotel is closer and rooms are $169.- up. Cabs fares ( taxis) are around $ 9 to $10 dollars short trip,(moving around down town area) and $25 to $30.- long trip, average, Buses I think are $2 dollars each fare, one way. It is cheaper if you buy a card valid for a whole day. Food, in down town, fast food, Mc. Donalds, hamburgers, cheap food, may be $ 8-$9 dollars with a beverage included. But take a seat in a restaurant is around $20-$25.- dollars each person average.Without wine.Just coke, pepsi or juices, to drink. The best to me is order ice tea, Fresh, refillable, and healthy. Good luck, I hope you will have a great time, Chicago is a beautiful city. To see the city from above go to John Hancok building, to 96 th. floor, to the cafeteria, you can have a seat and enjoy the view. It is better view than from Sears Tower, and they do not have cafeteria up there. My name is Ricardo. By.
