Do you mean "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, or the famous E-less novel "Gadsby" by Ernest Vincent Wright (yes, you read that right- a novel written completely without using the letter E once).
Here is a paragraph from wikipedia about Wright's novel:
"Gadsby's plot is an account of how its protagonist, John Gadsby, transforms his local town of Branton Hills into a bustling city by tapping into his own youthful vigour and capacity for original thought. Quoting from its first paragraph:
'If youth, throughout all history, had a champion to stand up for it; to show a doubting world that a child can think; and, possibly, do it practically; you wouldn't constantly run across folks today who claim that "a child don't know anything." A child's brain starts functioning at birth; and has, amongst its many infant convolutions, thousands of dormant atoms, into which God has put a mystic possibility for noticing an adult's act, and figuring out its purport.'"
Interesting, eh?

The Great Gatsby is about life in general and having everything and having nothing at the same time. Gatsby is completely unhappy with his life even though he is always the life of the party. He keeps wishing that Daisy will come back to him if he 'leaves the light on'. He invites everyone with the hope that Daisy will come to house one night and he can win her love with all his riches, when in all reality, Daisy will never come back and he will die for his love for her.
good luck with this.
