Unless you have a natural talent, it is hard. Classes are the best way. It is important to learn different styles of drawing. It is hard unless you know some techniques. If you don't want to take a class, about.com has some good free tips. They teach a couple of different styles and is fairly helpful. It is also important to look at other art. See how other artists use techniques so you can better understand how to do it. Learn the style that you like and have fun with it. Drawing is supposed to be fun after all.

To get better at drawing you need practice. It doesn't matter how bad your drawing look when you first start. You will improve if you have any skill in you. I don't take lessons and I learn a lot from just doing it my own way. Sometimes it's kind of hard for me to make myself see what problems I'm having but when I do I try to fix them. So you just need to pratice and draw dark. I have a big problem with drawing far too light on the paper.

Of course, this can be easily achieved by practice. You can go to an oekaki board and practice there too! I've seen average artists become fantastic artist, it's amazing what you can achieve.

For an oekaki board (place to draw online) you can go to....
1. hirokache.com/oekaki
2. suta-raito.com (click the anime side and on the top will be a small button saying oekaki)
3. oekakicentral.com

Oekaki central has a lot of fantastic drawers so if you aren't up to those standards go to another one of the mentioned boards.

Believe it or not drawing online helps you improve! You get a better sense of anatomy and coloring. It's also easier to draw online because you can always ctrl z and undo!

A good class is the best way. Learn to let your pen, pencil or whatever your using run free without thinking too much. When a person learns to drive a car they always concentrate on driving better. When they learn to drive, they don't even think about it. Same with music or anything else.

Look for things that inspire you and don't be too hard on yourself. Art is also about opinion and everyone has one.
