Plants have a tendancy to follow the light. Some prefer in the shade. Actually, it depends on the kind of plant.

Light is the most important aspect of plant growing.
The green leaves absorb light and in darkness plants turn the energy into sugars which feed the plant and roots.

well light affects the plants by either a good way or a bad way but everything needs light to grow, other than mold and fungus and there again i do believe it still has to have some light or nothing would grow......
most of our flowers strive on sunlight, but so does weeds unfortionately..
well i hope this helped a little...

depends, what kind of plant it is, if it is something like a "dieffenbachia", it cant have direct sunlight (at least here, in saskatchwan), because it will get sun scorched
but something like a cactus, need a lot of light. so when you buy a plant (or seeds), just read the li'l label that comes with it.

As far as I know the sun gives off vitamin D maybe plants need that as much as humans do.
