Any salary that gets you through the day without worrying about food or other nessesities is enough. You should learn to enjoy life without breaking it rich.

Decent is 50K. In cheaper areas, 40K. You need that much to pay all the bills in a nice place and still have some spending money. But you'll never be wealthy at that salary, and if you run your credit card a lot or have a nice car, you'll never save any money. So probably you want to earn more.

I earn 36K in Texas and I can definately live on it without problems. However, I can't save a dime since it all goes to bills and a few small luxuries. Luckily for me, my hubby earns 55K, so combined we are doing quite well.
