That can be a tricky question to answer, especially because there are a variety of subcategories within each style of voice. In music, a soprano is a singer with a voice that ranges from, approximately, the A below middle C to "high C", two octaves above middle C. However, there are classic types of sopranos including the dramatic coloratura noted for its acrobatic voice with powerful dramatic qualities, the mezzo soprano which is a darker-colored voice, and the full lyric soprano which is a sweet, graceful voice, with a wide, strong upper range and timbre (or tone quality).
The alto voice is lower in pitch. In music, an alto or contralto is a singer with a vocal range somewhere between a tenor and a mezzo-soprano. The term is used to refer to the lowest female singing voice, or one of the highest male voices. A typical alto will have a range from around the F below middle C to the E and, at the bottom of their range, altos sound almost like tenors. Some altos have even larger ranges; from the C below middle C to the C two octaves above.

Soprano is the highest pitch in vocal as well as instrumental music. Sometimes however some people can sing both. A second soprano for example is close in pitch to that of a first alto. So the two are somewhat interchangeable. However soprano is the highest pitch.
