I am 40 weeks pregnant today and am not having braxton hicks AT ALL.
This is my second pregnancy and the doctors said the head has started to engage, I have an upset tummy last 2 days with diarrhea (sorry!) and the baby has been quieter for these days aswell.
But does no braxton hicks mean labour is still a week or 2 away? Has anyone experienced no contractions and when did your baby arrive after what signs you had?

The diarrhea is a great sign. This happens often when labour is due to start soon, usually within the next 24hrs. Sometimes with second or more children the baby wont engage at all until labour begins. The braxton hicks are sometimes so slight that you dont even feel them. When i was preggars with my first i had no great pains or discomfort i was 10 days over and thought my baby would never arrive. I went to have a bath and when i got out BANG the pains started they were 2mins apart, and within 2hrs my baby was born. The nurses told me i was probably in labour all day but i didnt feel it.... Goodluck, it wont be long now

I did the same thing with my second baby so I feel for you! I ended up being induced at 44 weeks. Don't worry - they won't let you go that long - that was 21 years ago. Just hang in there and try to relax. I had NO Braxton Hicks with any of my 3 kids so it's not unheard of. Good luck & I hope you go into labor NOW! LOL

My first pregnancy, i had a show in the afternoon and that night had contractions a few minutes apart. (i had her 4 hours after first contraction)
My second was induced
With my third it was the night before my due date and i was having trouble sitting comfortably. I woke at about 1am felt weird in the stomach (not pain) when i got up and walked to toilet my waters broke a little. But the contractions didn't really start for about an hour)
Until my waters broke, I would not have thought I was going to have a baby when I did.
I guess some women have lots if signs, but i dont. I also have quick labours 3 to 4 hours for each of them

I went through the same thing sweetie. My daughter just did not want to come out, she was overdue by two whole weeks(42 weeks) they had an appointment to induce labour for me and everything. Then three days before my induction date, I started to feel contractions and went to the Hospital and indeed I was in labour. I was 2 cm. dilated and we had to wait, they actually told me to go home and have sex. That was Saturday at 6 am and I had her Sunday at 7pm. Hang in there and if you feel no movement, try shaking your belly a bit until you feel the baby moves.

You poor thing....I feel for you. I would walk and walk and then walk some more. Also sex is supposed to help start labor so try that too. I had contractions for 2 weeks straight before I even "really" started labor. I was in tons of pain.....but try walking and sex to get things started. You don't want to be induced....I hear it is alot harder. Anyways....good luck hun and congrats :)

having alot of sex at 40 weeks is a good thing to do your doctor should of told you that, a man's sperm will soften your cervix which the toxins in the sperm will set labour off.
