I don't think that that is normal. If I were you I would go to your school nurse and explain it to her...tell her your just concerned and maybe if she talked to your mom about it then it might convince her that seeing a Dr. wouldn't hurt.
I do want to say however that I'm sure things are fine and it may just be a hormonal imbalance that can be treated with medication. Don't think that there is something seriously wrong with you. The best thing to do is to talk with the nurse and/or Dr. just to get things checked out. Good luck hun...it's an inconvenience to have a period for a few days much less a few weeks...hang in there

Although there are other factors e.g. weight and age of breast development (puberty), to me you seem to be just at the normal age or range to begin your first period. According to Larissa Hirsch, M.D. and Neil Izenberg, M.D., editiors of the The Nemours Foundation, some girls start puberty at age 8 and get their period by age 9; others may start as late as age 14 and not get their period until they're 16.
However, when a girl begins to menstruate, she ususally does not ovulate and her first periods can be long and heavy, some times as long as 2 months. When a first menstrual period is very heavy and long, such as yours, it requires treatment for anemia.
Additionally, there is at least a 1 in 2 chance that the patient has a bleeding disorder. It is very important that you convince your mom that you need immediate medical attention.
An appointment with your family doctor will be fine, but I would preferr you vist your local hospital Emergency Room - then, your family doctor. This will greatly reduce the possibility of futher anemic symptoms i.e. weakness, great fatigability, dizziness, breathlessness, palpitation, and drowsiness.
Hope this answers your question!

This is just a thought, but tell your mom that you are starting to get worried about losing so much blood. Blood loss can make you feel really tired and weak. Maybe then she might be a bit more concerned, and take you to a doc. If you have been having your period for more than seven days, a doc needs to be seen. There could be a variety of problems, if left untreated they may not go away.

If you have been having your period for 3 straight weeks, you need to see a doctor. Something is not quite right. Tell your mom that you are really concerned and that you want to see the doctor. If you are having other symptoms like feeling tired, or weak you should tell her about that as well.

If your Mother will not take you to the doctor, see if your school's nurse can help you.
(do they still have school nurses?)
I am sure this has been uncomfortable for you.
While some "spotting" in between periods is to be expected when you are first starting out, what you are having is not to be expected and should be checked, ASAP.
Please show this to your Mom even. Lady, take your daughter to the nearest clinic!
You'll be ok, just, get the once over to be sure and to find out why.

Yes, you need to see the gynecologist. I don't know if this is your first cycle? How many have you had? Is this normal for you? When you first start, it is "normal" to be abnormal until your body regulates. I think it would be wise to be checked out. Bright red and a lot is not something to mess with. I don't think bleeding for 3 weeks like that is a good thing either, even when you first start, it isn't normal. Please Encourage your mother to take you to the gynecologist. Let us know how you are doing.

You need to get to the doctor. Fibroids can cause a "never seems to end" period.
