I am very visually oriented: I take in more information that way, and I learn better through seeing and reading than I do by listening or doing hands on activities.
With that said, my sense of hearing, and sound, is more important to me, and seems better. It seems to reach some inner part of me that is inacessible by sight. I see beautiful things every day, but it's the sounds I hear that I identify most closely with emotional feelings. There are pieces of music that make me cry when I hear them because of their beauty, and I have never had that happen when seeing or looking at something.

I would say sight. I want to see everything . I dont care if I can't hear. Besides haven't you ever wished that someone would shut up or you were deaf at least so you didnt have to hear them? They have more help for you if deaf then blind. Sight is better!

most people would choose sight, as I would, simply because people who can see view their entire world visually. And since I already can hear just fine, I figure, hell, I could give away the hearing...at least I could get myself around without a cane or a guide dog, right? Well, consider if you were born with one or the other deficiencies?...if you were born without sight, you'd learn to adapt to not seeing the world through eyes, but you could still talk and listen. AND think! Just imagine if you were born without being able to hear...you not only would never be able to speak, but you would never be able to think in words. Which is why people who were deaf were once called "deaf and dumb"...
I dunno. I think if I had to lose it today, I'd rather lose my hearing and still have my sight, because I would still be able to speak and think with words. But if I had to decide which I was born without, I'd say I'd rather be born blind.

Look at all the wonderful musicians that are deaf. Your brain will fill in the blanks of being sightless, but you would miss out on beautiful music to the ears.
Personally, I want both. If I had to choose, already knowing what sight is, I would say sound. My imagination can take care of the rest. Besides, these days, you cannot believe most of what you see anyway.

It would have to be sight. I could live with not hearing my daughter's voices better than I could live with not seeing their precious faces and knowing what they look like when they get older :)
