The U.S. Department of State has a section on their website dealing with the renunciation of U.S. Citizenship. See the site for specifics, but, in short, a person wishing to renounce his or her U.S. citizenship must voluntarily and with intent to relinquish U.S. citizenship:

1. appear in person before a U.S. consular or diplomatic officer,
2. in a foreign country (normally at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate); and
3. sign an oath of renunciation

So, you'll need to move to Denmark first. (They figure that if you're still here, you must not be really serious about giving up your citizenship). I believe that different rules can apply during wartime which make it a bit easier to surrender your citizenship, but they don't presently apply. Also not that this action is final and cannot be revoked. So, make sure that you really do like Denmark.

But, you are also considered to have given up your U.S. citizenship if you take other actions, like become the citizen of another country. That'd probably be your best bet, if you can swing it (take a look at Danish nationality laws). However, if you're doing it as a protest, and do not first secure another nationality, beware of the drawbacks to being a stateless person.

Prove that you have a skill no one else in Denmark can provide. There are websites set up by immigration boards for people wanting to expatriate just do a search for expatriate to denmark and hope you're not Muslim they get treated like crap there.

So how do you figure Denmark wants you? Go to Mexico-there is about 30,000,000 Mexicans that left.

Emmigrate, not immigrate. Em is the prefix for leaving. I'm is the prefix for arriving or entering. Answering your question, emmigrate first, renounce second.
