Right wing simple means conservative politicians, who during a session of Paliament sat to the right of the Speaker. The Liberals would sit to the left of the Speaker. That's how it is in most Parliaments/Congresses around the world.

The right wing was chosen because the wrong wing didnt make much sense when comparing them to democrats, the left wing.
