if it's a 'scab' now.... you can just leave it. the mouse will take care of it on it's own. if it was still an 'open sore', then you should try the cream....but it sounds like it's healing up just fine.

Just leave the scab alone. It's nature way of healing by covering the wound until it's ready to fall off. The fact that your mouse has a scab is a good thing. This means that it is healing.
There is no point in putting on antibacterial cream as your mouse will just lick it off and you really don't want your little rescue to ingest any of that.
And please don't soak your mouse..I know a lot of very helpful people here have suggested it, but please don't do it. You don't want your mouse getting any sicker, as his immune system is probably already a little compromised.

Leave the scab on, but keep an eye on him and you may have to take him to the vet. Thank you for wanting to save the mouse, the world needs more people who care about more then just themselves :) but you really should report the pet shop to the RSPCA or some orginisation because by pity buying animals you encourage the pet shop to keep selling and treating the animals badly.

I would just put some Neosporin on the wound for now. Although a soak in lukewarm water would feel nice, let the mouse get to know and trust you, before you try that. Congrats on your rescue.

I would leave the scab there. He will take care of it himself. Antibacteria cream will help it. That was nice of you to rescue him!!

Scabs form for protection until the area is healed. Just let nature take its course and don;t try to remove it yourself. Try adding a broad spectrum antibiotic (usually available in the bird section) to his drinking water and just giving him peace and TLC until he adjusts to his new home.
