Try warm milk. I went through a phase where I drank it every night. It seemed to help but could be one of those mind over matter things.

I'm not sure if you're drinking any caffeinated drinks, but sometimes if I have too much caffeine, I will fall asleep right away, but if I wake in the night (often around 3-4 am) I can't get back to sleep. So my first suggestion is, if you are having drinks with caffeine, that you don't have any after about 4 in the afternoon (and too much caffeine isn't good for your baby, anyway)
And don't worry too much about it. I know you're probably really tired; between the early months of your pregnancy and waking up in the night, but this will pass and you'll start to feel better. Sometimes worrying and fretting makes it worse. Being tired won't hurt the baby (though it's miserable for you). If you really can't sleep, try turning a small light on and reading for 20 minutes or so and then trying again.
Please don't take any medication without checking with a doctor-not even herbal remedies.
Wishing you all the best, God bless you!

I had this exact problem. MY DOc mentioned Melatonin. I tried everything under the moon. Waking up and doing cleaning AS I HATE CLEANING. Reading a boring book. WARM BATH. EVEN filling the tub 1/2 with freezing cold water. JUST put your feet in for 5 minutes. IF you can last it. It gets your mind off the lack of sleep and thinking how to warm the feet. A bed looks so cozzy.
I waited it out and at 13 weeks all my first trimest symptoms either left or diminished to a livalbe state

Really there are no safe sleep aids for pregnant women. I started knitting when i would wake up that early, it put me right back out. Counting and weaving is very tiring, but it hurt my hads horribly. Just try and sleep again first, if you cant, drink some milk, and try again, if still no sleep, then get up and work a little, clean the magazine pile, or wash some clothes. Good luck, and you will sleep soon.

Im not sure about any tablets you can take during pregnancy as I am not a doctor.
But try drinking a hot choccie drink while under the warm blanket in your bed and then reading a book, reading always sets me off to sleep after 2 words!!
If you drink coffee or tea, cut that out of your diet, and don't eat anything sugary or full of energy before bed.
You could try a long walk before bed?

Take a shower, then wait twenty minutes, go back to bed.
As your temperature cools it helps with going back to sleep naturally without any harmful medication! No prescription or non-prescription sleep-aids are safe for an expectant mother.

Medicine questions should always be posed to your caregiver. They all have different opinions and it could be harmful to your baby for someone to give their opinion when they are not trained. Also, some meds are safe for the most part but no thte best for you. For instance, claritin is safe but since its purpose is to "dry" up then it isn't the best as you need all your fluids when pregnant!

Read a very boring book, an old chemistry text, a tax instuction form, the directions for repairing something, surely you'll fall asleep again.

Check with your doctor, but Melatonin, it is natural, helps you sleep, no drugs in it all natural. No grogginess. It is what you body produced when you were a baby..BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DR. BEFORE taking anything....you could have other problems that need to be looked at.

I don't think you can take anything as far as meds go. Maybe you could drink some hot tea, or drink a glass of milk. Good Luck
