pressure foot is the 2-pronged, metal "foot" that both holds and guides the fabric as it's being sewn. pressure foot lever is in the back of the pressure foot, when you lift the lever up the foot raises, when you lower the lever the foot drops back into position. beside the pressure foot is a round, metal screw, which you use when you want to change a pressure foot. There are several different "feet"...zipper foot, button hole foot, etc. The motor is encased inside the sewing machine, it's either activated by a foot pedal on the floor, you press it with your foot like the way you apply pressure to drive a car, like a gas pedal. Or the motor is operated in a slower, controlled mode by using your hand and rolling the large wheel on the right end of the sewing machine. The needle threat tension is talking about the thread tension, which is complicated to try to explain...my machine has two threads...one from the top--the spool of thread, and loaded from the bottom---from the bobbin. The trick is to adjust the tension so the stitches lay flat, not too loose or tight on the top of the fabric, not too loose or tight on the bottom of the fabric, and no bunching. You control the feed tension of the top thread by either pressing in or releasing the top tension...a press in/pop up button on the top left of my machine. You control the feed tension of the bottom thread by either/or both tightening or loosening the screw on the bobbin itself, and/or by dialing the knob on the front/left...it's numbered like a clock: 0//3//6//9. It makes a major difference what the threat tension must be set at in order to sew say, denim versus spandex. The bobbin is a round shaped device that holds the bottom thread...my machine's bobbin is located in a chamber under the platform the foot rests on. Slide plate is the metal shelf/surface the foot rests on. Try an online search "parts of a sewing machine" and see if you can't find a illustrated picture. Good luck. Sewing is a blast once you get the hang of it. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://sewandserge.com/machimages/MechanicalSewDia2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://sewandserge.com/sewparts.asp&h=430&w=500&sz=37&tbnid=UJJxjb-JhaoYPM:&tbnh=112&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dparts%2Bof%2Ba%2Bsewing%2Bmachine&start=2&sa=X&oi=images&ct=image&cd=2

presser foot screw and clamp is the mechanism that operates the foot pedal, much like an accelerator pedal of a car.
Presser foot lever is the actual base on which your foot rests.
Needle thread tension is how loose or tight the thread of the needle is.
Slide plate is the small plate under the needle which you have to open to put in the bobbin
The bobbin is a small reel which holds thread and feeds it from below the needle housing, making the two way continuous stitch possible
