For Christians, they celebrate the 25th of December as Jesus' Christ's Birthday. People give presents because it is the season of Giving (for Christians, God sent his Son to save the World). During this time, also, with all the bonuses, people earn extra income, thus it is easier for them to give presents.

Reindeer names.
*Rudolph
* Dasher
* Dancer
* Prancer
* Vixen
* Comet
* Cupid
* Donner
* Blitzen
On the 25th it is celebrated Jesus birth. However, some say that in fact he wasn't born on this date, but Christians had to celebrate the December solstice (which is on the 21st) without saying they were doing it, as it is a pagan celebration. So a date closer to the 21st of December was chosen.
Gifts are exchanged as a symbol of the almas deposited all through the year, that were then distributed among the poor on Xmas.The opening of the box, gave its name to 'Boxing day'.
It could be as well a symbol of the gifts to Jesus given by the 3 wise men.

1.Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Doner, Blitzen were the reindeer named by Thomas C Clarke's 'the night before Christmas (1822).
2. Rudolph came later in the song by a poem created by an American advertising executive called Robert May. He was requested to produce a poem that could be given away to children by the Santa Claus employed by Department Stores at Christmas! Working as an Advertising Executive Robert May had a natural flair with words and was able to compose the Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer poem which was specifically designed to appeal to children. This marketing ploy was a massive success and approximately 2.5 million Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
poems were given away in the first year of its publication! In 1949 the singer Gene Autry recorded a musical version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer composed by Johnny Marks
3.Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25 because the hijacked the pagan festival of Yule. The did this as they wanted to commerate the anniversary of Christ's birth & the festival was already there, I suppose!

According to Clement Clarke Moore's "The Night Before Christmas" the names of the reindeer are:
Dancer, Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen.
Rudolph was added in the 1940s. He was part of a Christmas campaign for Montgomery Wards. Then, the song became very popular when it was sung by Gene Autry.
Christmas is celebrated on Dec. 25th- this is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Historians believe Jesus may have been born in the spring rather than the winter. Dec. 25th also happens to be the birthday of Mithra, a Roman god. When Christianity was just beginning to acquire converts, some of the "holidays" coincided with pagan holidays to make it easier for converts to "adjust"
Gifts are exchanged in remembrance of the visit of the 3 Kings or Magi. They came bearing gold, frankincense and myrrh. So, gifts are exchanged on Christmas as a commemoration of this event.

Dancer, Dasher,Prancer, Donner, Blitzen, Comet, Cupid, Vixen and Rudolph. People celebrate Christmas because they are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Gifts are bought and exchanged between family and friends to show their love for each other. Children benefit the most because of Santa Claus theory. Merry Christmas!!
