If your password is open your PC and all information and total control of it is available to whoever has your password. Change your passwords and access codes right away. If your financial information is accessible through your machine protect it again by changing all your access codes with your financial institutions. Make sure that you scan for any spyware, malwares or viruses before reconnecting to the internet.

Do you mean your Windows Logon password? If you do theres really nothing to worry about, if someone you know in person and uses your computer and you dont want them accessing your files change the password. But the Windows Logon is really easy to bypass. If you get 'hacked' over the internet the Windows Logon does nothing to protect you.

That will make it easier once they find your computer, but first they have to find your computer. This is not the easiest thing to do, unless they already know the name to your computer or the IP to it. Most company's use what is called private IP's on their clients, which makes it harder. So it is slim you will be hacked by your friend. I would change your password just to make sure.
